The stand is also from Perfecto while the canopy hood is custom made by Caribbean Forest. The bottom of the tank is made from tempered glass and cannot be drilled. In the back corner you can see the overflow. This overflow, manufactured by Marineland, never lost its siphon in two years of service, even during power outages. It also has the advantage of being a bit narrower (front to back) than other designs which permits the tank to be located closer to the wall. |
Originally a freshwater tank, the move to saltwater and finally a reef tank was simple and one I don't regret. The decision to build a reef tank was, in part, because my wife wanted to redecorate the living room. Since the tank had to come down, it was the perfect time! The tank lighting consists of four VHO fluorescent bulbs providing 560 Watts, more than enough for a tank full of soft and LPS corals. The bulbs are replaced every 10 months. Unfortunately, I did not know much about picture taking and the white spot in the tank is from the flash. I'm not very artistic either so I can't "fix" the picture very well either. |
